EMPEROR'S health.
Peking, November 13, 1908.
Please see my telegram No. 176 of the 10th instant. In contradiction of the rumours current in Peking that the Emperor is dead, I was informed at half-past 4 this afternoon, while on a visit to the Wai-wu Pu, that His Majesty, though in a dangerous condition, was still alive.
Prince Ch'un, brother to the Emperor, is appointed Regent in a Decree issued this evening in the Emperor's name, while a second Decree nominates Prince Ch'un's son as the Emperor's successor. The new heir is a child about 5 years old.
